The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, high-level disinfection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of clean and sterile surgical instruments, trays, and pans within a state-of-the-art sterile processing department. This role involves operating sterilization equipment, inspecting instruments, maintaining inventory, and ensuring quality assurance of sterile supplies.

Responsibilities:
- Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instrument pans, procedural trays, technical equipment, and surgical case carts.
- Operate steam sterilizers, checking gauges and maintaining proper levels, and perform simple maintenance.
- Prepare cultures, review test packs, interpret results, and complete documentation to assure sterility.
- Check and adjust medical equipment to ensure it operates according to specifications.
- Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment following established procedures, preventing cross-contamination.
- Receive and store supplies, check stock against requisitions, document receipts, and maintain inventory levels.
- Document and fill orders for surgical supplies and deliver them to patient care areas.
- Maintain records of equipment inventory use, servicing frequency, and equipment requiring repair.
- Perform daily quality assurance checks on stock levels, sterility dates, and accuracy of procedure carts.
- Complete critical documentation such as biologicals and sterilizer load sheets.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD)
- BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician
- Large hospital experience (500+ beds)
- Travel experience (minimum 6 months)
- Two professional references from the last two assignments
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Level 1 trauma center experience
- Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER Cert)
- Orthopedic tray experience
Special Considerations:
- Nights, weekends, and holidays required.
- On-call/callback per unit needs.
Scheduling:
- 40 hours per week.
- Night shift.
- Specific shift details are determined by unit needs.
