About Us

The Dog Wizard is a dog training franchise with 15 years of experience nationwide. At our locally owned Ann Arbor location, we focus on real training that transforms lives—not magic, just dog training done right! We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service, high standards of care, and a team built on integrity and professionalism.

We offer a variety of training options including Board & Trains, Day School, Private Lessons, and Group Classes.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and career-minded individual that is business oriented but doesn't want to give up having fun or contributing to their community. You can have it all! This is more than a job—it’s an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of dogs and their families, while building a career with long-term growth potential. We love people that are willing to put in the work from the ground up. The ability to provide stellar customer service and professionalism is a must.

Our ideal candidate is:

  • A problem-solver (not just a problem-spotter)
  • Energetic, positive, and team-oriented
  • Professional and customer-focused
  • Eager to learn, adapt, and grow into leadership opportunities

And most importantly—you must genuinely love dogs of all ages, breeds, and temperaments, and enjoy working closely with their owners. While training dogs is a part of what we do, training their humans is an even bigger component to ensure our clients success.

Responsibilities

  • Work with The Dog Wizard team to implement training to standards
  • Identifying issues and problem solving to address challenges swiftly
  • Execute sold training including all training programs that are offered and available at The Dog Wizard. This would include group classes, private lessons, day school, and board & train programs
  • Update clients on progress of training through phone, email, and/or daily updates on social media
  • Provide Lifetime Graduate Support to existing clients and future clients through Graduate Support Group held one time per week or evaluate additional needs as becomes necessary
  • Assist in developing and maintaining community relationships through attending events, scheduling lunch and learns with local business, and building brand awareness by training in the community
  • Assist in maintaining and strengthening client relationships
  • Building the quality reputation of The Dog Wizard through word of mouth referrals, online reviews and delivering on the expected goals for training
  • Communicate with the team and clients effectively about training needs of the dogs.
  • The Dog Wizard training ranges from basic obedience to behavior modification to aggressive or highly reactive dogs

Qualifications

  • Customer service or client care experience required
  • Dog training experience is a plus, but not required. Our company is willing to provide paid training for the right individuals (all trainers complete The Dog Wizard Academy)
  • Strong communication skills for client updates, sales conversations, and teamwork
  • Leadership potential and desire to grow into higher-level responsibilities
  • Willingness to complete:
  • Online training modules prior to hands-on training
  • 3 weeks of in-person Academy training (provided by company)
  • Must live in or be willing to relocate to the Ann Arbor, MI metro area
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (company vehicle provided after training)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly rate: $18–$25/hour + bonus opportunities
  • Part-time employment (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday)
