The Position:

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Compliance Officer role in the Des Plaines, IL area. The position is responsible for ensuring that our bank operates in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance programs, conducting risk assessments, and providing guidance to the business units

The opportunity has a generous salary of up to $120K plus generous incentives and a benefits package. (This is not a remote position.)

Compliance Officer responsibilities include:

  • Conducting risk assessments, compliance testing, and audits to proactively identify and mitigate risk.
  • Preparing clear, concise compliance reports for senior management and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitoring regulatory developments and ensuring the timely implementation of new or revised requirements.
  • Providing practical guidance and training to business partners across the organization.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining the bank’s enterprise‑wide compliance programs.
  • Investigating, documenting, and resolving compliance issues and customer complaints.
  • Serving as a trusted compliance resource across all functional areas of the bank.

You also bring the following skills and experience:

  • Strong working knowledge of banking regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience across multiple compliance disciplines, including but not limited to:
    • CRA, BSA
    • Retail and Deposit Regulations
    • Reg E, Reg CC, Reg O
    • Fair Lending, ECOA, TILA, RESPA, HMDA, FHA
    • Flood Disaster Protection Act and USA PATRIOT Act
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, law, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of compliance experience within the banking industry.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse teams.
  • CRCM preferred.
