POSITION SUMMARY
Our company seeks a charismatic, self-motivated buyer to purchase various commodities. As a Buyer I for the organization, the buyer will research, evaluate, and buy products to meet our daily operational needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select best source consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
• Ability to turn a high volume of orders for mostly commercial off the shelf items
• Most purchasing done through distributors
• Address over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates and prices, and report such changes to the interested parties in a timely manner as required
• Seek new suppliers based on the best price, quality, availability, reliability, and customer support
• Maintain purchase orders to ensure accurate quantity, pricing, and delivery while thoroughly documenting any required changes within
• Focus on obtaining the best price with every purchase
• Schedules regular meetings with suppliers to review orders
• Willingness to learn new commodities
QUALIFICATIONS
• BA or BS in Business Administration, Operations Planning, Supply Chain, or a related field preferable, or 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting
• Must be a minimum of 21 years of age (or a minimum of 18 years of age in CT, PA and WV).
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Must have patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a cheerful disposition
• Ability to function independently, be flexible, display personal integrity, and work effectively with all employees and departments
• Knowledge and understanding of purchasing procedures
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
• Observant, inquisitive and attentive
• Effective organization and time management skills
• Basic ERP/MRP experience
• Basic Relationships with supply base
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work and perform well under pressure
• Ability to type and operate standard office equipment daily
Travel Requirements
• Minimal travel to different locations within a specific geographic area.
