Job Description

This full-time Boiler/Reefer Operator position supports a Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining crew operating in the Baltimore/DC metro area. The Boiler/Reefer Operator is responsible for maintaining and operating steam boiler and refrigeration equipment critical to the pipe rehabilitation process. This role works closely with a field crew on municipal and commercial pipeline projects throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities - Boiler/Reefer Operator

• Set up, operate, and monitor steam boiler units during CIPP liner curing in compliance with safety and project specifications
• Operate and maintain refrigerated trailer (reefer) units to ensure proper resin and liner temperature control before and during installation
• Perform daily pre-operation inspections, fluid checks, and routine maintenance on boiler and reefer equipment
• Coordinate with CIPP crew lead and lining technicians to ensure equipment readiness at each job site
• Maintain accurate field logs, equipment records, and communicate any mechanical issues promptly

Qualifications - Boiler/Reefer Operator

• 1+ years of experience operating industrial boilers, reefer units, or similar heavy field equipment
• Familiarity with CIPP, trenchless pipe rehabilitation, or pipeline construction preferred
• Ability to read gauges, interpret equipment manuals, and troubleshoot basic mechanical issues
• Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred for equipment transport
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
• Ability to travel 1-2 weeks at a time on overnights.

Preferred Qualifications - Pipe Lining Equipment Operator

• Maryland or nationally recognized boiler operator certification
• Experience working on municipal sewer or water main rehabilitation projects
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Confined space entry training or certification
• Prior experience with CIPP resin staging, inversion, or pull-in-place methods

Physical Requirements - Boiler/Reefer Operator

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift
• Extended periods of standing, kneeling, and working in outdoor environments in all weather conditions
• Work performed in or near trenches, manholes, and active roadway environments
• Full-time, day shift with potential overtime; occasional weekend work based on project demands
• No remote work; 100% on-site field position in Beltsville, MD and surrounding metro areas
